What safety precautions can I take to protect myself from scams and fraud?

This guide outlines common scam tactics and provides actionable steps to protect yourself.

Official Awin communication channels

  • Awin employees will only contact you through official @awin.com, @commissionfactory.com, @shareasale.com or Awin Group email accounts.

  • Awin does not use WhatsApp, Telegram, or any unofficial platforms for official communications.

  • Awin never requests confidential information or bank details outside of the secure signup process.

  • Cryptocurrency payments are not accepted by any Awin Group company.

Beware: the 'prepaid task' scam

How it works:

  1. Scammers contact victims offering seemingly legitimate part-time 'jobs' like engaging with content, writing reviews, or cryptocurrency trading.

  1. Initial small payments build trust before requests for larger investments in fake high-return plans.

  1. Victims may lose significant funds, face pressure for further investments, or have personal data compromised.

Red flags

The following occurrences should arouse suspicion and are usually a cause for concern:

  • Unsolicited job offers via messaging apps from unknown contacts.

  • Early requests for personal information.

  • Requirements to pay upfront to earn money.

  • Promises of unusually high returns with little risk.

  • Urgency to act quickly on investment opportunities.

  • Directions to use specific, unknown platforms.

If you suspect a scam

  • Contact Awin immediately at security-bugs@awin.com to provide details to help Awin act swiftly to protect you and others.
