You choose which advertisers to work with, promote their products, and earn a commission when your activity leads to a result, like a sale, lead, or click. How affiliate marketing works
- You promote an advertiser’s product or service using an affiliate link.
- A potential customer clicks your link and visits the advertiser’s site.
- They complete an action, such as making a purchase.
- You earn commission from the advertiser.
How tracking works
Each affiliate link you use includes a unique tracking code that identifies you as the publisher. When someone clicks your link, Awin tracks their activity on the advertiser’s site. If the user completes the agreed action, Awin credits the commission to your account and facilitates payment from the advertiser.
The four roles in affiliate marketing
Affiliate marketing involves four key parties:
- Publisher (you): Promotes an advertiser’s products or services using affiliate links. This can include content creators, bloggers, social media influencers, email marketers or paid media specialists.
- Advertiser: The business that sells the product or service. Advertisers set the commission structure and pay when your promotions deliver results.
- Affiliate network (Awin): Provides tracking technology, manages your relationships with advertisers, and ensures you’re paid correctly.
- Customer: The person who clicks your affiliate link and completes an action, such as buying a product or completing a sign up.
