Two-step verification (2SV) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a second form of user authentication, like a temporary code from an app, in addition to your password.

Activating two-step verification

Prerequisites:

  • To activate two-step verification, you need an authenticator app. Download Google Authenticator or Authy.
  • You must log in to the Awin platform on a desktop or laptop to activate or deactivate two-step verification. You can't enable or disable two-step verification using the Awin app or a mobile browser.

Step-by-step instructions

Once you've downloaded an authenticator app, complete the following steps:

  1. On your desktop or laptop, log in to the Awin platform.
  2. From the user menu (), select Security.
  3. Click Send email to begin the verification process.

Note: If you need to request another verification email, you must wait 120 seconds after sending the first one.

  1. Check your email inbox for the verification email. If you don't see it in your main inbox, it may be in your Spam or Junk folders.
  2. In the email, click It’s me to confirm your identity. A QR code will then be displayed.
  3. Open your authenticator app on your phone and scan the QR code.
  4. The app will generate a 6-digit one-time passcode. Enter this on the Awin screen.
  5. A recovery code is displayed. Copy and store it somewhere secure.

Note: The recovery code allows you to regain access your account if you lose access to your authenticator app.

  1. Tick the checkbox to confirm you’ve saved the recovery code. 2SV will now be active.

To ensure the setup is complete, log out and log back into your Awin account.

Important: If your authenticator app isn't working, follow the app developer's instructions to fix the issue.

Deactivating two-step verification

Important: You can't access your payment details without active two-step verification.

To deactivate two-step verification:

  1. Log in to the Awin platform using a PC or laptop.
  2. From the user menu () and select Security.
  3. Click the Two-Step Verification Status toggle to turn it off. The toggle moves to the off position and two-step verification is deactivated.

Troubleshooting two-step verification

Email verification issues

If you haven't received the verification email:

  • Check your Spam, Promotions, or Junk folders, as verification emails often get filtered there.
  • To request another verification email, wait for the 120-second timer to expire, then click Send email again.
  • If you still don't receive the email after trying again, click Contact Support at the bottom of this article.

Post-activation issues

If you see an error message in your Payment Details after enabling two-step verification:

  • Log out and back into your Awin account.
  • Clear your browser's cache and cookies.
  • If the error persists after completing these steps, click the Contact Support at the bottom of this article.

Authenticator issues

If you encounter any of the following issues:

  • No access to your authenticator app
  • Lost or forgot your recovery code
  • The recovery code is not working

Click Contact Support at the end of this article. The Partner Success team will help deactivate your two-step verification for you. Once deactivated, you will need to reactivate two-step verification the next time you log in to restore your account’s full security.

To help speed up the process, include at least two of the following details from your publisher account:

  • Postal code
  • Telephone number
  • Website
  • Street name
  • Account registration date

Why this extra verification step matters

The email and two-step verification process ensures that only you can make changes to your account’s security settings. It helps prevent unauthorised access and protects sensitive information such as your payment and bank details. Keeping 2SV enabled is an essential part of safeguarding your Awin account.
